Veterinary Surgery
At our Olive Branch clinic, we offer a comprehensive range of surgical procedures for cats and dogs. All our surgeries adhere to stringent surgical protocols.
A dedicated nurse will administer anesthesia. They will then watch your pet during each surgery using electronic patient monitoring equipment. Additionally, we provide pain management.
Following surgery, our primary focus is on post-operative monitoring and pain management. Additionally, your veterinarian will provide detailed instructions for at-home care.
What to Expect from Surgery
We always keep you informed of why we're recommending a surgical procedure and any post-operative care your pet will need at home. At our clinic, we adhere to strict surgical protocols.
Surgical Procedures
At Cat and Cow Vet Clinic, we perform medical and emergency surgeries to treat diseases and conditions. We use surgery to also repair trauma-related injuries.
Elective and non-elective surgeries are routinely performed by our Olive Branch veterinarians:
- Soft Tissue Surgery
We offer soft tissue surgical procedures for pets with ear, nose, and throat disorders.
These procedures treat hepatic, urogenital, oncological, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal, and skin conditions. - Spaying & Neutering
When we spay or neuter a cat or dog, we are sterilizing them to prevent disease and extend their life.
- C-Sections
During Cesarean sections, puppies or kittens are surgically removed from their mother's uterus.
We perform C-sections when the mother's life is at risk during childbirth.
- Dental Surgery
Our veterinarians provide dental surgeries for dogs and cats. These surgeries can range from tooth extractions to gum disease treatment and jaw fracture repairs.
The Veterinary Surgery Process
We understand how frightening it can be to bring your pet in for surgery. Rest assured that we will only recommend surgery if it is in your furry companion's best interest.
We will ensure that you understand why we are recommending surgery. We want you to feel comfortable proceeding.
If your pet requires advanced care, our vets will refer you to a veterinarian in the Olive Branch area. We will work closely with your veterinarian to ensure your pet receives the best care possible.
Surgical protocols at our clinic include:
Pre-surgical assessments. We will confirm the procedure's specifics, conduct a physical exam, and complete blood tests. The vet reviews the specifics to learn whether your pet is at risk of anesthesia-related complications.
Dedicated surgical suites. Surgical procedures happen in a dedicated surgical suite. To avoid infection and cross-contamination, this room is completely sterile.
Surgical attire. When our staff is in the surgical suite, they must wear disposable caps and masks at all times. Additionally, those performing the procedure will wear sterile gowns and single-use gloves.
Sterile packs and equipment. Before each surgery, we clean, sterilize, and wrap our surgical instruments and equipment.
